Ambulance Billing Information

Q.  Does my insurance cover ambulance transports?

A.  Yes. If deemed medically necessary for emergency transport, Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurance companies will cover ground ambulance transports.

Q.  Who sets the transport rates?

A.  The rates for ambulance transport are set by the New Mexico Public Regulations Commission.

Q.  Where can I obtain a copy of a Patient Care Report?

A.  Patient Care Reports can be obtained from the Santa Fe County Fire Administration Office; Ambulance Billing Division. A medical release is required and must be signed by the individual who received care or their legal representative. Proof of identity is required (driver’s license) and proof of legal representation will also be required before records can be released

Your account would be set up to reflect a time payment schedule and you will received a monthly statement until the balance is paid in full.
