Santa Fe County will be hosting several open house meetings to review the County’s proposed 2018 Infrastructure and Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP). The Open House meeting schedule is listed below.

Santa Fe County Infrastructure Planning (ICIP)


Santa Fe County is preparing the 2018-2022 Infrastructure and Capital Improvements Plan (ICIP) to submit to the NM Department of Finance and Administration, Local Government Division (DFA/LGD). The ICIP serves as a planning tool and a funding request mechanism to address capital project needs. The ICIP may include facilities, roads, utilities, parks, equipment and other capital projects.

What is an ICIP?

The ICIP is a plan for infrastructure and capital needs that is submitted to the State of NM for consideration of funding during the legislative sessions (January-March 2017).

  • The ICIP lists capital need priorities that may be funded by the state during the period from July 1, 2017 –June 30, 2022.
  • The ICIP is updated and submitted annually.

Why is the ICIP important?

  • The ICIP demonstrates planning for capital projects
  • The ICIP lists project funding priorities for consideration of state funding
  • The ICIP is reviewed by multiple funding sources
  • The ICIP is not a wish list

What is a typical ICIP project?

  • Create a new fixed asset or enhance an existing fixed asset
  • Have a life expectancy of at least 10 years
  • A capital project estimated to cost $10,000 or more
  • Be ready to implement

What should an ICIP project include?

  • A realistic cost estimates, including operation and maintenance costs
  • All necessary agreements for operation or management completed
  • Leverage existing funds with Identified funding sources available/secured
  • When possible, provide benefit to a broad number of people or regional benefit such as water and wastewater systems

The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is scheduled to hear the ICIP on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, June 26, 2018 the First Public Hearing (no action is scheduled), the meeting is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 31, 2018 the Final Public Hearing and Adoption of the ICIP Resolution, the meeting is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

The BCC meetings are held in the County Commission Chambers on the 2nd floor of the County Administration Building, located at 102 Grant Avenue, Santa Fe, 87501.
