Santa Fe County Solicits Constituent Participation in Broadband Survey

Santa Fe, NM- The Santa Fe County Economic Development Division, in collaboration with the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division and the County’s Broadband Working Group is excited to announce a significant opportunity to improve broadband infrastructure and ensure reliable access to high-speed internet for all County residents. Recently, New Mexico secured over $675 million in BEAD (Broadband Equity and Access Development) funding from the federal government, targeted specifically at assisting "unserved" and "underserved" communities. The State Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) issued a Notice of Funding Opportunities for an initial round of funding for last mile projects through BEAD program. The BEAD funding is primarily directed towards Internet Service Providers (ISP) for last mile Fiber to the Home projects. To apply for this funding and effectively plan, Santa Fe County needs input from constituents regarding their current internet situation. We aim to understand the speed and reliability of existing connections to assess community needs accurately. This data will help prioritize areas that require immediate attention, ensuring our efforts align with our community's requirements.

As part of this initiative, Santa Fe County will submit a BEAD challenge to the state's Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) and the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). To do this effectively, we require participants from across the County to test and report on their home and office internet services.

We invite all Santa Fe County residents to participate in our broadband survey. To access the questionnaire, please scan the QR code provided or visit: https://form.jotform.com/241151534500139.
