Voter Registration Agent (VRA) Training

What is a Voter Registration Agent?

A Voter Registration Agent (VRA) is authorized by the Secretary of State to assist New Mexico residents in registering to vote. VRAs play an important role in making sure eligible voters can participate in elections.

Who Can Become a VRA?

To become a VRA in New Mexico, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a U.S. citizen and a New Mexico resident
  • Complete a required training and take an oath

What Do VRAs Do?

Certified VRAs are allowed to distribute and assist with voter registration forms. They also return completed forms to the appropriate county clerk’s office within the required deadline.

Do I Need Training?

Yes. All VRAs must complete an official training session before they begin registering voters. Trainings are offered by the County Clerk's Office and must be completed in person or through an approved online method.

How Do I Get Certified?

Contact Christian Z. Rodriguez Pena  to schedule a VRA training for yourself or your organization. Appointments are required.
