Santa Fe County invites residents to an open house to learn more about the Domestic Well Use Metering Program, which will take effect in early 2027.
County staff will provide information about the program, answer questions, and explain how the program applies to new and existing well owners. Spanish translation will be available at the meeting.
What to Know
The Domestic Well Use Metering Program is part of a County-led effort to better understand groundwater use across Santa Fe County and enforce the Sustainable Land Development Code.
- New developments using groundwater wells will participate in annual reporting of meter readings.
- Well owners will be registered in the program during the development permit review process.
- Existing well owners are not required to participate until they engage in development that requires a development permit under the Sustainable Land Development Code.
- The program does not change current development permit requirements.
