Solid Waste Convenience Centers

Santa Fe County Solid Waste manages six, convenient trash and recycling drop-off locations. Residents and businesses that generate less than 850 pounds of trash per month may use the solid waste convenience centers by purchasing permits or bag tags by completing this permit application and dropping it off at the County's Treasurer’s Office, Public Works Complex, Edgewood Satellite Office, Eldorado Satellite Office, or Pojoaque Satellite Office.

Veteran's discount eligibility- Veterans, as verified by the United States
Department of Defense DD form 214 of release or discharge from active duty with an honorable discharge or of service-disabled veteran status by the department of veterans' affairs.
Copy of DD form 214 must be included to receive discount.

Mandatory Recycling

Recycling is mandatory at Santa Fe County solid waste convenience centers. Want to learn more about recycling right? Recycling saves convenience center users $50 per ton, helps the environment, and keeps taxes down. Any convenience center user placing accepted recyclable material in trash bins may be issued a warning and/or issued a citation. The criminal penalty for violating the mandatory recycling ordinance is a fine of at least $25 for the first offense, $50-$100 for the second offense, and $75-$200 for the third offense.

Curbside Collection Service

Curbside collection service may be obtained from one of the following private haulers. If your company wishes to be listed here, contact us. If you live within the Santa Fe County Collection District,established in Ordinance No. 2016-04, private waste haulers who provide curbside residential trash service must also collect recycling at least once every other week. Illegal Dumping

Santa Fe County Solid Water Ordinance No. 2014-10 prohibits the dumping, accumulating, or scattering of solid waste. Any person convicted of illegal dumping will be guilty of a crime. First time offenders maybe penalized with a fine up to $500 and/or 60 days in jail. Subsequent violations carry a penalty of up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. The improper or illegal disposal of hazardous waste carries a penalty of up to $5,000 and/or 90 days in jail.
