Santa Fe County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMAP), a planning effort that aims to identify and develop mitigation strategies for the various hazards that may impact the unincorporated area of the County. Public input from diverse stakeholders is critical to its success.

In addition, a virtual public meeting will soon be announced that will allow members of the public to participate remotely. Residents may also participate in a survey to provide the planning team with valuable information that will be used in the development of the HMAP and educate the planning team's approach.

“Public engagement is critical to the success of hazard mitigation planning,” Fire Chief Jacob Black said. “These meetings also provide a great opportunity for the public to learn about the County’s emergency management, mitigation, and response efforts.”
