Santa Fe County Commissioner Camilla Bustamante (District 3) and the Santa Fe County Public Works Department invite the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the expansion of the Madrid Volunteer Fire Station.

Originally constructed around 1989, the Madrid Volunteer Fire Station has undergone a comprehensive interior and exterior remodel that enhances functionality, safety, and accessibility for fire personnel and the community, as wildfire risk reaches unprecedented highs. Key updates include the addition of a new training room with a fully equipped kitchen, a new HVAC system, and ADA-compliant restrooms and showers. Accessibility improvements also include ADA parking and accessible pathways.

To support increased operational demands, the fire bay was expanded to accommodate additional equipment storage, a new concrete pad was installed, and a vehicle exhaust extraction system was added to enhance operational safety. Overall, the building’s exterior was newly stuccoed, and a new liquid waste system was installed to meet environmental standards and accommodate increased facility use.
