Join Santa Fe County in celebrating the completion of Rail Trail Segment #6 and the new Cerro Alto Trailhead, an exciting addition to our regional trail system connecting Santa Fe, Eldorado, and the U.S. Highway 285 corridor.
This new segment expands the Santa Fe Rail Trail, a 15.7-mile multi-use trail designed for both recreation and alternative transportation, supporting cyclists, walkers, and the broader community.
Project Highlights
1.78-mile multi-use trail constructed with crusher fine and built to meet accessibility standards
Extension from Segment #5 at Spur Ranch Road to the new trailhead
New Cerro Alto Trailhead featuring:
Parking area accommodating standard vehicles and horse trailers
ADA-accessible parking space
Concrete gathering area connected to the trail
This project is part of the Santa Fe County Open Space, Trails, and Parks Strategic Master Plan (Resolution No. 2019-4) and represents a continued investment in outdoor access and connectivity across the region.
