County Lowers Price for Ride Home

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COUNTYLOWERSPRICE OF DESIGNATED DRIVER PROGRAM

Santa Fe– October 9, 2007 - Santa Fe County’s Caddyprogram is undergoing some changes. First, the phone system has been updated so callers get information on the program, including hours of operation, fees, service areas, etc and also have the option to talk to a County DWI staff member during business hours or leave a message.  The second change is the cost of the service.  The new rates are $5 for one or two people and $10 for three or more.

Resident use dropped by more than 50% when the County began charging for rides.  The previous rates were: $5 for one person, $10 for two or three and $15 for four or more.   The purpose of the program is to change the culture so people make a designated driver part of their weekend plans.  To achieve this, the program must be affordable as well as convenient.
