SANTA FE, N.M., May 5, 2026—Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles on New Mexico State Road 502.  A 96-year-old woman succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Her identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.  

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigation Team is conducting the investigation to determine the cause of the crash. 

This has resulted in the closure of both east and westbound lanes between County Road 101D and State Road 30.  Emergency responders remain on scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area until further notice. 

Traffic Advisory: 

Drivers are encouraged to use the following alternative routes: 

• Westbound Traffic on State Road 502: Detour via Espanola to State Road 30 
• Eastbound Traffic from Los Alamos: Use State Road 30 or State Road 4 to bypass the closure. 

The investigation is ongoing; there are no additional details available at this time.
