Join the Water Policy Advisory Committee

SANTA FE, N.M., May 19, 2026—The Santa Fe County Planning Division seeks volunteers to serve on the Water Policy Advisory Committee (WPAC), comprised of up to nineteen voting members who reside within the County's exterior boundaries. WPAC advises the Board of County Commissioners on sustainable utility services, domestic water supply and conservation, wastewater management and reclamation, irrigation, drought management, flood prevention and control, and water reuse in the County and region. The County aims to achieve a wide range of expertise and experience, and diverse backgrounds, ages, and genders for County Committees. There are currently nine vacancies.

WPAC has three working groups supported by staff liaisons which each meet monthly to undertake tasks approved in the committee's annual workplan:

  1. Stormwater Management Working Group
  2. Drinking & Wastewater Management Working Group
  3. Outreach Working Group

The three working groups supplement Santa Fe County staff by bringing independent expertise, research, and effort to WPAC's assigned work.

Ideal candidates will bring expertise and experience in areas such as hydrology, water resource planning, agriculture, ecological restoration, public administration or finance. Appointments are subject to confirmation by the Board of County Commissioners based on qualifications and a submitted letter of interest and resume.

WPAC meets the second Thursday of every month, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., with special meetings as needed. Appointed members shall serve a three-year term.

Interested individuals are invited to submit their resume and letter of interest to:
