Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System to attend City of Española’s Centennial Celebration
Santa Fe, NM- The Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System will participate in the City of Española’s Centennial celebration on Saturday, September 27th at the City of Española Plaza. Santa Fe County staff will be joined by representatives from the New Mexico Environmental Department and the Office of the State Engineer from 9am-1pm on September 27th for a community outreach event.
Attendees of the Centennial celebration will be able to meet with representatives to learn more about the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System project, to explore the benefits of connecting to the system, and to receive information and assistance with completing the documents necessary to connect to the system once it is completed. New Mexico Environmental Department and NM Health will be offering free water tests for private wells.
About the Project
The Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System will divert water from the Rio Grande in Northern New Mexico and bring a reliable supply of clean drinking water and improved fire protection to residents of the Pueblos of Pojoaque, Nambé, San Ildefonso, and Tesuque, as well as certain residents of Santa Fe County. Once operational, the system will deliver up to 2,500 acre-feet of water annually for consumptive use, with future capacity for expansion.
