Santa Fe County celebrates Fiesta de Santa Fe with special meeting, Sept. 8

SANTA FE, N.M., Sept. 3, 2026—Santa Fe County is honoring the 314th annual Fiesta de Santa Fe with a special Board of County Commissioners meeting to host past and present members of the Fiesta Council, Court, and Cuadrilla on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 1:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers at 102 Grant Avenue, and the public is welcome to attend.
During the Aug. 25 regular BCC meeting, the Board proclaimed Sept. 8 as “Fiestas de Santa Fe Cultural Celebration and Belonging Day” to reaffirm the County’s commitment to cultural inclusion.
To commemorate the special connection between many Santa Fe County employees and Fiesta de Santa Fe, the County produced a short video featuring employees who have served on the Fiesta Council, Court, and Cuadrilla. The video will premiere during the Sept. 8 special meeting. Community members are invited to attend in person or virtually to watch the premiere. Visit the County’s Fiesta web page for more information and to watch the videos following the premiere.
“I look forward to welcoming all who come to celebrate the 314th Fiestas de Santa Fe. Santa Fe is home to distinct histories, cultures, traditions, and lived experiences, and honoring that complexity does not require us to tell one story or remember our past in the same way; it asks us to listen to one another with humility and respect, recognize our shared destiny, and continue the work of healing and building a community where every person can belong, live, and thrive with dignity,” said Commissioner, District 2, Lisa Cacari Stone.
“¡Viva la Fiestas de Santa Fe!” said Commissioner, District 3, Camilla Bustamante.
"Through the adoption of the Historical Cultural Events Ordinance in November 2025, the Board of County Commissioners created safe space within its meetings and Chambers for events it chooses to celebrate and recognize," said County Manager Gregory S. Shaffer. "We look forward to welcoming all who choose to participate."
Attend in person or watch the meeting virtually through the County’s YouTube livestream or join through the County’s “Join Meeting” web page. The celebration precedes the regular BCC meeting at 2 p.m. on the same day.
