Santa Fe County Closes CR 51 (Ojo de La Vaca) at Galisteo Creek Low Water Crossing Due to Flooding
Santa Fe, NM – Santa Fe County has closed County Road (CR) 51 (Ojo de La Vaca) at the Galisteo Creek low water cross due to dangerous water flows. The road will remain closed until further notice.
CR 51 south of the Galisteo Creek low water crossing can be accessed via CR34 and the intersection with US285, approximately 18 miles south of the intersection of NM41 and US285 in Lamy. Please be aware that this detour may add 30 to 40 minutes of travel time.
An Alert Santa Fe notification has been issued to affected residents regarding the closure.
Looking ahead, the Santa Fe County Board of Commissioners has allocated general obligation bond proceeds for the construction of an all-weather crossing across the Galisteo Creek. Design of this long-term solution is already underway.
Santa Fe County will notify residents when the CR 51 Galisteo Creek low water crossing has been reopened.
Remember, turn around, don’t drown!
