Santa Fe County Expands Free Green Waste Drop-Off Days to Help Residents Reduce Wildfire Risk

Santa Fe, NM- In support of the Great American Cleanup and ongoing wildfire prevention efforts, the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners has approved Resolution No. 2025-031, offering free tire recycling, solid waste, and green waste disposal opportunities throughout 2025. These efforts promote community beautification and encourage residents to create defensible space around their homes. 

NEW: Free Green Waste Drop-Off Every Saturday – April 12 through June 28, 2025 

Residents with valid Solid Waste permits can now drop off green waste every Saturday from April 12 to June 28, 2025, at the following County Convenience Centers: 

  • Stanley (2 CO14 A Santa Fe, NM 87056)
  • Jacona (1696 NM502 Santa Fe, NM 87506)
  • Eldorado (28736 US 285, Santa Fe, NM 87508)

These additional drop-off days are part of the County’s strategy to reduce fuel loads in wildland-urban interface areas and support safer communities as wildfire season approaches. 

Additional Green Waste Drop-Off Dates for 2025 

Residents with valid Solid Waste permits can also dispose of green waste for free at Stanley, Jacona, and Eldorado Convenience Centers on the following dates: 

  • July 11–12, 2025 
  • August 1–2, 2025 
  • September 5–6, 2025

Great American Cleanup – Free Solid Waste Disposal Day 

Date: Saturday, April 12, 2025

Eligibility: County punch permit holders

Locations: All County Convenience Centers, including Eldorado, Jacona, La Cienega, Nambe, San Marcos, Stanley, and Tesuque.

Santa Fe County provides free garbage bags, safety vests, and gloves to support neighborhood litter cleanups. Supplies can be requested by emailing jybeam@santafecountynm.gov

Toss No Mas – Free Solid Waste Disposal Day

Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025 

Locations: All County Convenience Centers, including Eldorado, Jacona, La Cienega, Nambe, San Marcos, and Stanley 

All Santa Fe County Convenience Center rules apply. Before disposing of waste, please review the prohibited materials as defined in Ordinance No. 2014-010
