Santa Fe County officials to attend community listening session in Eldorado

SANTA FE, NM, March 12, 2026—Santa Fe County staff and commissioners will attend a public meeting at the Vista Grande Public Library in Eldorado, located at 14 Avenida Torreon, on Tuesday, March 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., to hear about emergency management concerns from residents of the Cañoncito area.
County staff will share updates about the Ojo de la Vaca low water crossing project, and discuss potential flood mitigation and safety strategies, including the Alert Santa Fe program, a targeted emergency communication program available to residents.
With County Road 51 (Ojo de la Vaca Road) serving as the only road in and out of Cañoncito, residents are concerned about the condition and location of evacuation routes in case of wildfire or other emergencies. Last year's multiday flooding of Glorieta River raised concerns about impacts from boulders and silt accumulation as well as future floods. And the condition of older powerlines in the area has residents worried about the potential for sparking a wildfire.
County staff from the Office of Emergency Management, Fire Department, and Public Works Department, along with District 3 Commissioner Camilla Bustamante and District 4 Commissioner Adam F. Johnson will attend.
