Santa Fe County Re-Opens CR 51 (Ojo de La Vaca) Low Water Crossing at Galisteo Creek

Santa Fe, NM – The Santa Fe County Public Works Department has reopened County Road (CR) 51 (Ojo de La Vaca) at the Galisteo Creek low water crossing. Following cleanup efforts, including the removal of large rocks and debris from the roadway, crews have successfully restored access for residents and motorists.

While there is still a steady flow of runoff at the crossing, the water level has receded enough to allow for safe passage.

An Alert Santa Fe notification will also be issued to notify affected residents regarding the reopening.

Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through the area and to never attempt to drive through high or fast-moving water.

Santa Fe County thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during the closure. Looking ahead, the Santa Fe County Board of Commissioners has allocated general obligation bond proceeds for the construction of an all-weather crossing across the Galisteo Creek. Design of this long-term solution is already underway.

For real-time alerts and updates, residents are encouraged to sign up for Alert Santa Fe.
