Santa Fe County Water: Today and Tomorrow - Day Two: The Conversation Continues

Santa Fe, NM - After an overwhelming response and lively discussion during the October Santa Fe County Water: Today and Tomorrow forum, the County will continue the conversation with a second session on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Board of County Commissioners Chambers (102 Grant Ave, Santa Fe).
The meeting will also be livestreamed and open to the public via www.santafecountynm.gov/joinmeeting.

During the October event, County staff from multiple departments, together with a representative from the City of Santa Fe, presented in-depth updates on County water resources, groundwater management, stormwater programs, and land use planning. Due to the volume of valuable information and thoughtful public questions, the discussion extended well past the planned schedule, prompting County leadership to continue the session to ensure all presentations and community feedback receive full attention.
At the November 17 session, members of the public will once again have the opportunity to ask questions following each presentation, both in person and virtually.

The November continuation will feature the remaining presentations and a closing discussion on the County’s water future, covering topics such as:

Collaboration between Santa Fe County, the City of Santa Fe, and other partners

Water conservation programs, domestic well metering, and stormwater management

Rural water systems, acequia partnerships, and agricultural support

The upcoming Next Generation Water Summit 2026, co-hosted with the City of Santa Fe

“We had such an incredible level of participation and engagement that it only made sense to continue,” said Commissioner Camilla Bustamante. “This discussion isn’t just about data - it’s about collaboration, transparency, and shaping how Santa Fe County manages water for the future.”
