COVID-19 (Coronavirus Update)

SANTA FE, NM - Effective immediately Santa Fe County, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect our most vulnerable populations, are taking the following steps:

1. Santa Fe County Senior Centers are closed until further notice. The Santa Fe County Community Services Department is providing home delivered meals in lieu of congregate dining to high risk seniors. We will continue to provide transportation services to those with serious medical conditions. Santa Fe County Senior Services will initiate a system of “caring contacts” to continue regular communication with our senior population.

2. The Santa Fe County Department of Public Safety has discontinued visitation for residents at the jail facility. All incoming inmates are being screened for all infectious disease, including COVID-19. Santa Fe County is working with the New Mexico Department of Health to do on-site testing of symptomatic inmates. We have implemented aggressive environmental cleaning in high- touch areas and we are educating both staff and inmates on good hygiene practices.

3. All activities at Santa Fe County owned or operated Community Centers will be postponed until further notice. Affected Community Centers include the following: Nancy Rodriguez, El Rancho, Cundiyo, the Max Coll Corridor Community Center in Eldorado, Rio En Medio, La Cienega, Nambe Community Center, and the Bennie J. Chavez Community Center in Chimayo.

4. In conjunction with the New Mexico Public Education Department, Santa Fe County will suspend its Teen Court Program for the following three weeks through April 6, 2020.

Santa Fe County will remain open for business. We ask that our residents work with us to reduce face-to-face interactions as much as possible during this public health crisis. A complete list of County contacts and Departments can be found online or on our website We encourage email and phone conversations wherever possible.
