Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System

Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System Public Meeting

Learn how to connect to the regional water system

When: Wednesday, June 10, 2026, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Where: Pojoaque Valley Middle School Auditorium

Address: 1797 NM-502

The Bureau of Reclamation is leading construction of the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System, which is currently underway in the Pojoaque area. Santa Fe County is supporting this effort by coordinating with landowners about potential service connections.

Upcoming Waterline Installation Areas

A main waterline will be installed in the following areas in the coming weeks. If your property is located directly adjacent to one of these roadway segments and you would like a service connection installed, or if you have questions about your options, please contact Santa Fe County before the deadline.

  • County Road 84 between County Road 101E and County Road 84D
  • County Road 101E
  • NM-502 between Elk Trail and Jacona Road
  • NM-503 between Old Callejon Road and Don Bernardo Road

Important Deadline

Residents must contact Santa Fe County Project Manager Scott Kaseman before June 5 if they would like to opt in for a potential service connection before the waterline is installed near their property.

Connection Assistance

Santa Fe County will pay up to $10,000 to connect eligible residents to the water system. Residents must opt in before the waterline is installed in the roadway near their property and notify Santa Fe County of their intent to connect.

If you choose to connect after the waterline has already been installed by your home, you may be responsible for those connection costs.

About the Public Meeting

Staff from Santa Fe County, the Bureau of Reclamation, and the Office of the State Engineer will be available to answer questions and assist residents with completing the necessary form to connect to the water system.

About the Water System

The Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System will provide reliable, safe drinking water to Pueblo and non-Pueblo customers who are part of the Aamodt Settlement Agreement in the corridors of NM-502, NM-503, U.S. 285 from Pojoaque to Tesuque, and Bishop’s Lodge Road.

The system will deliver up to 2,500 acre-feet of water annually from the Rio Grande, providing a reliable and sustainable source of drinking water to the region while reducing strain on the Pojoaque Basin aquifer. The project will also enhance public safety with the installation of fire hydrants along waterlines at rural standard intervals.

Aamodt Acceptance/Well Election Form

The Aamodt Acceptance/Well Election Form and instruction sheet allow residents to decide if and how they wish to participate in the Aamodt Settlement Agreement and regional water system.

The new Option 2 allows residents to connect their home to the water system for indoor use while retaining their existing well for outdoor use. A dual source of water, along with a reliable supply of drinking water and improved fire protection, may increase property value and may reduce homeowner insurance rates.
