Protecting Our Water: MS4 Annual Report Open for Public Comment
Santa Fe, NM- Beginning today, August 18, 2025, Santa Fe County invites residents to review and comment on the draft Fiscal Year 2025 annual report detailing efforts to manage municipal stormwater pollution. This report, prepared for submission to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), outlines the County’s 2024–2025 initiatives to reduce stormwater pollution under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit NMR040000.
Stormwater pollution, which occurs when runoff carries trash, chemicals, and sediment into our arroyos, ditches, or drains, can harm wildlife, damage infrastructure, and compromise the quality of drinking water or the Santa Fe River. Public feedback plays a crucial role in enhancing these management practices and safeguarding Santa Fe County’s water resources.
A copy of the draft report is available for public review on the Stormwater Website. A physical copy may be requested at the Customer Service Center of the Santa Fe County Administrative Complex, located at 240 Grant Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87501, or the Santa Fe County Public Works Complex, located at 424 NM-599 Frontage Road, Santa Fe, NM 87507.
Written comments must be submitted by 5:00 pm, September 19, 2025, either by mail or in writing to the Environmental Compliance Office at PO Box 276, Santa Fe, NM 87504, or via email at mcarr@santafecountynm.gov.
