Santa Fe County DWI Planning Council Seeks Interested Volunteer Members
Santa Fe, NM – The Santa Fe County Community Services Department is seeking qualified volunteer members to serve on the DWI Planning Council. Established by Resolution 1997-87, the Council is a multi-disciplinary advisory board that provides recommendations to the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners on issues related to driving while intoxicated (DWI), underage drinking, alcohol misuse, and related substance abuse concerns.
Membership is open to Santa Fe County residents with experience in the following fields: law enforcement, legal, medical, education, substance use/treatment, elected office, public health, traffic safety, and media. Applications are also strongly encouraged from community members with lived behavioral health experience. Appointed members shall serve a two-year term.
The DWI Planning Council works to develop and advance evidence-based policy and planning efforts designed to reduce DWI incidents and substance misuse across the County. Policy issues reviewed by the Council and the Board of County Commissioners may involve updates to regulations, local ordinances, or state-level legislation.
