The Re-Use area at the Eldorado Convenience Center is a space designated specifically for saving usable items from the landfill. The public is encouraged to collect items from the Re-Use area for no cost. Regardless of the location of your residency, come “shop” in the ReUse Area. You will find athletic equipment, tools, hardware, gardening supplies, household items, toys, games, office supplies, books, magazines, and more.

Anybody may collect items from the Re-Use Area, but only those in possession of a permit or bag tags may leave items there. Any items left in the Re-Use Area must be in a load that is covered by a permit or a bag tag. Only items in good, useable condition can be brought to the Re-Use Area. No broken items are allowed. Items will remain in the Re-Use Area no more than two weeks after which they will be donated to a charitable agency or sent to the landfill.

The following items ARE NOT accepted at the Re-Use Area:

  • Car seats
  • Chemicals (pesticides, weed killer, etc.)
  • Clothing, blankets, or other textiles
  • Computers
  • Electronics
  • Fax machines
  • Hazardous items
  • Liquids (paint, household cleaners, solvents, etc.)
  • Mattresses
  • Paint
  • Printers
  • Sofas
  • TV’s
  • Toilets

The local volunteer organization, Eldorado/285 Recycles, provides valuable assistance with the Re-Use Area by cleaning and organizing it as well as educating the public. To learn more about Eldorado/285 Recycles, visit http://eldorado285recycles.org/.

The Re-Use Area is provided as a public service. Santa Fe County makes no representations or warranties, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, regarding the materials found in the Re-Use Area, which have been discarded and may or may not be functional or safe. All materials are taken in “as is” condition. Do not take any materials if you are not qualified to assess their condition and safety. By taking materials from the Re-Use Area, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Santa Fe County from any claims for any injury or damage caused by them.

Hours of OperationThe Re-Use Area will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays.
