The County has recently implemented a new program to enhance customer service for residents in unincorporated areas who need to report a potential code violation or zoning concern. Our new online software will allow users to perform multiple functions from any location, including but not limited to:
- Submit applications
- Review progress status
- Communicate with staff
- Print and upload documents
- Save submission progress to login and continue late
To streamline this process, Code Enforcement will no longer accept reports of code violations or zoning concerns by phone or email. All submissions must now be made online through the GeoCivix Portal, available 24/7 for your convenience.
How to Report a Code Violation or Zoning Concern
1. Go to the Geocivix home page: https://santafecountynm.geocivix.com/secure/
2. On landing page, click on the orange “Report a Violation” button
3. Follow the prompts to complete your Code Violation or Zoning Concern submission.
4. Keep your description brief and include specific details about the violation.
5. If possible, upload clear photos showing the issue.
6. After submitting, you’ll receive a confirmation notice once your submittal process is complete.
7. You will then begin to receive status updates as the case progresses, and you may log in at any time to track the case.
Once your report has been reviewed and assigned to a Code Enforcement Officer, someone will contact you to begin the case review process.
Common Types of Violations
- Junk Vehicle Ordinance — Any inoperative, wrecked, dismantled, partially dismantled, abandoned, unlicensed, or unsafe passenger car or truck visible from public or private property.
- Litter Ordinance — Any garbage, litter, recyclable material, hazardous material, construction debris, or refuse not correctly disposed of in an authorized container or licensed disposal facility.

- Nuisance Ordinance (2023) — Any failure of an individual or business property owner to maintain their property in a manner that interferes with the welfare or enjoyment of neighboring property owners.
Request an Inspection
The County also implemented an inspection process for new construction within the unincorporated areas of Santa Fe County. This improved process requires certain construction activities to undergo a pre-final and/or final inspection.
Email: Please email inspections@santafecountynm.gov to request an inspection on an active permit. Please indicate "Inspection Request" in the email subject line and provide the site address, the type of inspection you are requesting, and your contact information in the body of your email. Complaints submitted via email will not be accepted and any email containing an email submitted complaint will be directed to submit any code potential code violation via the online GeoCivix portal.
