On 2/8/13 deputy proceeded to the area to conduct a close patrol of the Boys and Girls Club due to recent burglaries.  Deputy located an open door to the building.  Deputy did not locate anyone inside the building at the time.  Upon investigation, Deputy observed evidence and spoke to the neighborhood kids and revealed 2 suspects.  Suspects admitted to breaking a plexiglass window to gain entry.  Estimated damage amount is $300.00.  Suspects stated that they would be in the building to use the internet. Juvenile Probation was contacted and did not authorize incarceration.

Stolen: Wood Chipper

On this date it was reported that sometime between 2/4/13 and 2/9/13 some unknown person stole the above listed item from state the property. The Chipper was located in a fenced area behind two locked gates.

The above listed stolen items were valued at about $7000.00

Stolen: air compressor, compound miter saw, speaker box

Victim reported that sometime between 2/7/13 5:00pm and 2/9/13 11:00am some unknown subjects stole the above listed items from the victims vehicle. A 1997 green GMC Yukon. Entry was gained through the unlocked vehicle door.

The above listed items stolen were valued at about $1200.00


0213001938 / Possession of a controlled substance to witZ: Suboxone and Marijuana, Possession of drug paraphernalia / 02-09-2013

Location Santa Fe County Jail

Arrested: Manuel Benavidez, 47-year-old male from Chimayo N.M. aad Orlando Salazar, 41-year-old male from Chimayo N.M.

On 02-09-2013 Inmate Manuel Benavidez was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana and 8 strips of Suboxone during a search at the jail. Inmate Orlando Salazar was found in possession of several needles durring a search.  Both inmates were charged accordingly.

Location:  residence off of Agoyo Po, Santa Fe, NM (El Rancho)

On 2/8/13 deputy was in the area taking a report of a burglary when the victim advised him that between 1/1/13 and 1/8/13 unknown persons gained entry into her property and took a metal backhoe bucket.  Victim stated that the estimated value of the bucket is $1500.00.

Location:  residence of of Agoyo Po, Santa Fe, NM (El Rancho)

On 2/8/13 deputy responded to above area in reference to a burglary.  Victim stated that between the hours of 1200 and 1500 unknown persons gained entry into her garage through an unlocked door and took 4 rims with tires.  Estimated value of the items taken is $5,000.00.

Location:  4600 block of Airport Road, Santa Fe, NM

Victim:  43 year old female, Santa Fe, NM

On 2/8/13 deputy was dispatched to above location in reference to an attended death.  Medics were called to the scene and were performing CPR.  CPR was stopped due to the victim showing no signs of life.  Victim was under the care of a hospice nurse.  Victim had a history of medical problems.  There was no signs of foul play.  OMI was called and took over the investigation.


0213001841 / D.W.I. Speeding, Reckless driving, Resisting evading or obstructing an officer, Possession of drug paraphernalia /

Location: State Road 76 mile post 2, Northern area of Santa Fe County

Arrested: Jose Villegas, 25-year-old male from Santa Cruz N.M.

On 02-07-13 at about 8:30PM a silver in color Infinity was observed traveling at 51mph in a posted 35mph zone on State Road 76.  An attempt was made to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, at which time the driver accelerated refusing to stop the vehicle.  The driver attempted to make a u-turn on a sharp curve in the roadway almost causing a crash and then finally came to a stop.  The driver was identified as Mr. Villegas.  He displayed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming Oxycotin pills prior to driving.  Upon his arrest he was found in possession of  drug paraphernalia.  He was taken to Espanola Hospital for a legal blood draw prior to being booked into the Santa Fe County Jail on the above charges.

Location: 7000 block Kachina Loop, Santa Fe, NM

Stolen: One (1) white gold engagement ring and two(2) gold wedding bands  

Victim reported on Sunday February 3, 2013 during the SuperBowl, there were several people at the residence and the next day the above items were missing. This incident is currently under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

The above listed item was valued at about $2798.00


Case#:  0213001835/ DWI, Turn Signals required/ Date:  2/7/13

Location:  SR 14 mm 28, Madrid, NM

Suspect:  Alan Emslie, age 69, Madrid, NM

Charged:  DWI, Turn signals required

On 2/7/13 deputy stopped the vehicle near mm 18 on State Road 14.  Contact was made with the driver which showed signs of impairment.  Driver admitted to drinking 2 glasses of wine.  Standard Field Sobriety Tests were administered and signs of impairment were observed.  Suspect was arrested and read the NM Implied Consent.  Suspect agreed to a breath test in which his BrAC was over the legal limit.  Driver was transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
