On 2/6/08 at 2345 hours, RECC received a call of a motor vehicle crash in the median at the above location.  Suspect was located in the driver's seat with the vehicle running.  Vehicle was high centered on some boulders in the median.  Suspect was directed to step out of the vehicle and did not comply.  Suspect was forcibly removed from vehicle.  SFST's were not able to be performed due to suspect being combative.  Suspect submitted to a breath test in which his Brac was .22 and .24.  Suspect was transported to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center and booked accordingly.


0208001023, Felony DWI, Careless Driving, 2/6/08

Location: Paseo Real / Camino Montoya     La Cienega

Suspect: Louis Rivera    Age: 53  Santa Fe

Louis Rivera was involved in a motor vehicle crash where he drove through two fences, 451 and 455 Paseo Real and struck a tree. Deputy Markley arrived on scene and found Rivera to be intoxicated.  Rivera was arrested for Felony DWI this being his fourth or subsequent DWI arrest and was transported to St. Vincent Hospital for treatment of his injuries.


0208-1022/ Battery on a household member/ 2-6-08

Suspect: Javier Morales-Varela   age 32

Charges: Battery on a household member

Victim reported that after an argument she was grabbed and pushed by her husband. Victim suffered minor visible injuries. Suspect was arrested after he left the residence in a red truck.

Suspect 2: Edward Laird   age 42

Charges: Magisrate Court Warrants

Vehicle was stopped for a minor vehicle infraction. Contact with the driver revealed that he had an active warrant. Driver was arrested. The passenger's driver's license was also run through dispatch to determine if he could drive the vehicle away. It was determined that he also had an outstanding warrant.

Victim reports front door to home was found open, no forced entry however entry is suspicious and drawers were opened.  No report of anything missing at this time.  Case is under investigation.

Victim: 79 year old female

The above victim was found unresponsive after taking a nap. The victim suffered from a terminal illness. There were no signs of foul play at the residence.

Location: Camino Jacobo  (Santa Fe)  Arrested: Jeremy Lujan DOB: 2/7/87

Stolen: Two tires and rims, estimated value, $600

A report was taken refence to a report of a larceny of tires and rims.  After intial investigation deputies found that the suspect was the above listed person.  The suspect was found with the above listed property.

Suspect was being held at the Santa Fe County Detention Facility on unrelated charges.  An active warrant issued from the Santa Fe County Magistrate Court was served on her.  She was re-booked onthe additional charge.

The victim reported that on 12/27/2007, unknown person(s) stole two laptop computers from the front door to his home after behing delivered by UPS.

The victim reported that he had received several letters from a collection agency attempting to collect on checks issued that did not clear the bank. The victim contacted the bank and learned that someone had forged his name and information to write checks. The victim reported that he lost his wallet in Albuquerque, NM on June 20, 2007.
