Arrested: Athelstan Spilhaus (61 YO)

Deputy initiated a traffic stop on the suspect due to him failing to maintain the traffic lane. Upon contact, suspect advised he took too much of his prescription medication. During SFST's, suspect showed signs of impairment, refused a breath test, and was charged accordingly. 

Case #2023007242 / Unlawful Taking & Burglary of a Motor Vehicle - 12/13/2023

Recovered: Nissan Sentra, Stolen: Cell phone, wallet, ID, cards, cash 

Deputies were dispatched to the Lone Butte gas station in reference to a stolen motor vehicle. A short time later, the vehicle was located, unoccupied. Deputies made contact with the victim who after looking through the vehicle, advised the above items were taken from it. Surveillance was obtained from the store in order to help identify a suspect. 

Case#2023007326/Fraud/12-13-23

Victim:47 YOM

On Wednesday, December 13th 2023, deputies were dispatched to a report of Fraud. The reporting party/victim advised he did construction work for a company who did not pay him. The money owed was then relayed to a debt collection agency Smith Morrison. Smith Morrison Co. collected the money but never transferred what was owed to the victim.

2023007226 Burglary / Larceny / Criminal Damage To Property 12/13/23

Location: Colina Drive (Santa Fe County)

Stolen / Damaged: Propane Tanks / Propane Cage

Deputies were dispatched to a call for service, in refernce to a burglary.  During the investigation, it was learned the suspects pryed open a propane cage and stole approximately eleven propane tanks.  

Case 2023007225 Agg DWI/Careless Driving/ Open Container

Interstate 25/ MM 274

Arrested Yazmine Sanchez 20YOF (Santa Fe, NM)

Responded to I-25 in regards to a wrong way driver. Vehicle was located ad stopped. Driver agreed to SFST's and showed signs of impairment. Driver refused chemical testing. An open alcoholic bottle of Herradura was located inside the vehicle. Subject was arrested and booked into SF ADC with out incident. 

2023007215 / Unattended death / 12-12-2023

Location: Frasco Rd Santa Fe, NM

Decedent: 90 YOF

Deputy responded to location in reference to a deceased female. Once on scene and through investigation, it was learned a doctor was on site. Decedent had a DNR in place. No signs of foul play suspected or observed. Cause of death appears to be of natural causes.

2023007202 / Battery against a HHM, False imprisonment, Interference with communications / 12-12-2023

Location: Butterfly Springs Apartments (Pojoaque, NM)

Victim: 41 YOF

Suspect: Simpson, Clinton 41 YOM

Deputy dispatched to location in reference to a welfare check. The reporting person received a cryptic message from their daughter which concerned them. Once on scene and through investigation, it was learned the victim and suspect got into a verbal argument which escalated last evening. As the argument escalated, suspect battered victim and broke her cell phone to prevent law enforcement being notified. Signs of battery were apparent. Suspect placed under arrest, transported and booked into Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility without incident.

2023007199 / Aggravated battery against a HHM, Child abuse X2 / 12-12-2023

Location: Azpeitia Rd Santa Cruz, NM

Victims: 33 YOF, 11 YO, 15YO

Deputy dispatched to location in reference to a domestic disturbance. Once on scene and through investigation it was learned the victim and suspect got into a argument regarding treatment of the children. The argument escalated and became physical when the suspect strangled and battered the victim. Children tried to interven when they were also battered. Suspect identified. Arrest warrant pending at this time.

Traffic stop was conducted on a stolen vehicle. Driver was arrested and a handgun as located inside the vehicle. Subject was transported and booked into SF ADC with out incident. 

2023007194 / Aggravated battery against a HHM, Criminal damage to property, interference with communications / 12-11-2023

Suspect: 48 YOM

Deputy made contact with victim who reported a domestic disturbance that occurred sometime at the end of November. Through investigation, it was learned the suspect battered the victim and damaged her cell phone to prevent her from calling law enforcement. An arrest warrant for the suspect is pending at this time.
