Suspect: Paul Erwin age: 46

Charges: Bringing Contraband into a place if imprisonment, Possession of a controlled substance to wit, marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance to wit, 5 pills

On Friday September 9, 2018 at approximately 10:36 PM deputies were dispatched to the above location in reference to a narcotics violation.

During the investigation it was learned the above suspect, turned himself in to the Jail to serve a five day sentence. After being booked into the jail he was found to be in possession of the above items. He was charged accordingly.  

No Further action taken.

Location: US 84/285   Pojoaque

Arrested: Melvin Ortiz      Age: 56      Santa Fe,NM

Ortiz was observed operating a vehicle and was stopped after observing a traffic violation. Ortiz was contacted and was found to be operating his vehicle while his privilege was revoked with the arrest clause. Ortiz was placed into custody and taken to jail where he was booked accordingly.

Location: US 84/285 Arroyo Seco

Arrested: Joey Salazar       Age: 32    Velarde,NM

Salazar was stopped by deputy after observing a traffic violation. Upon contact with Salazar, he was found to have two active warrants issued for his arrest. Salazar was taken into custody and transported to jail where he was booked accordingly.

Victim reported to deputy, today at approximately 6:45 p.m. an unknown person threw an object from a vehicle striking her vehicle as it was traveling on the roadway. Victim stated her vehicle sustained damage. Case is under investigation.

Items Damaged: Bedroom door ($100.00), Television ($100.00 unknown brand), Piggy bank ($2.00) and Plastic Display ($2.00) 

Suspect was upset that his younger brother took his Xbox controller. Suspect damaged items listed. Suspect also assaulted his mother with profane and derogatory language. Suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Victim reported finding her screen door open in the morning.  Shortly after she found her daughter's school instrument stolen from the residence.  Case is  under investigation.

Victim reported while out of town her solar equipment was stolen from outside and inside the residence.  Case is under investigation.

Location: 300 block of State Road 76 (La Puebla)

Decedent: 66 year old male

On 09-13-18 Deputies were dispatched to an unresponsive male. The reporting party stated the male was not breathing and cold to the touch. Santa Fe County Fire Personnel arrived on scene and were unable to perform life saving techniques. The decedent was diagnosed with a terminal illness several months ago. No signs of foul play were observed. Cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

On Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at approximately 5:13pm, Deputy responded to location in reference to criminal damage to a motor vehicle. While parked at location an unknown suspect(s) keyed the vehicle causing a large amount of damage to the vehicle. Investigation is ongoing.
