While investigating a Motor Vehicle Crash suspect was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved. Suspect was uncooperative. Suspect was ran with information given and had two active warrants. While being booked a black tar substance was located and suspect confirmed it was heroin. Suspect was rebooked on Possession of a Controlled substance.

Deputies responded to a call of a 91 year old male not conscious not breathing. Upon arrival it was determined the male passed away from natural causes. No foul play was observed.

Decedent: 91 year old male
On 10-01-18 Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive male. The reporting party (family member to decedent) stated the male was deceased and cold to the touch. During the investigation it was learned the male had a history of Heart Disease and Parkinson. Santa Fe County Fire Personnel arrived on scene and determined the male to be deceased. No signs of foul play were observed. Office of the Medical Investigator was contacted and will determine official cause of death.

On Friday, September 28, 2018 at approximately 3:43pm, Deputy responded to location in reference to a stolen motor vehicle. An unknown suspect(s) left in the vehicle after it was parked in front of location. Vehicle was entered into N.C.I.C. as stolen. Investigation is ongoing.

On September 27, 2018 deputies responded to the location in reference to a burglary. Victim reported he left his sliding door open and someone entered his residence sometime between 3:30pm-6:45pm and the his laptop computer. There is no suspect info at this time.

Correction officers conducted a random vehicle search in the parking lot of the SFADC and got consent to search a vehicle. Above suspect was sitting in the vehicle and a jar of suspected heroin was located near his person. Inside the container was 3 small bags of suspected methamphetamine. In addition, brass knuckles and switchblade was found on suspects person. Suspect was booked accordingly.

On September 26, 2018 Deputies were dispatched to the listed area to meet with a case worker regarding a fraud. The case worker believes someone has been stealing money from an elderly man for a large period of time now. There are no suspects at this time.

Ortega was charged with possession of a controlled substance after he was seen walking down a corridor by jail staff. While walking,a package dropped out of his pants pocket that later was determined to have contained narcotics.
