Stolen: U.S. Currency

Victim reported unknown suspect(s) stole Christmas cards from their mailbox. The Christmas cards had checks that family mailed to them. The signatures on the checks were forged and cashed at a local bank. This has been reported to the bank. Case is under investigation.

Case 2025000048/Agg DUI, Leaving the scene of a crash/ 1-3-25

Arrested: Angel Griego 21 YOM

Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash. The vehicle was located down the road from the crash site. The driver showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking. The driver was arrested and refused to provide a breath sample. The driver was booked into Santa Fe ADC.

Deceased: 38 YOM  

Deputies were dispatched to the above location regarding an unattended death. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the calling party who advised she located her father deceased. There were no signs of foul play and OMI was contacted.

The subject was identified during a traffic stop. The subject had an active arrest warrant out of Santa Fe Magistrate Court for failure to pay fines on charges of no insurance and no registration. The subject was arrested and booked into Santa Fe ADC without incident.

The subject was identified during a traffic stop. The subject had an active arrest warrant out of Santa Fe Municipal Court for failure to appear on charges of careless driving. The subject was arrested and booked into Santa Fe ADC without incident.

Arrested: Ricky Viarrial 27 YOM 

The subject was identified during a traffic stop. The subject had an active arrest warrant out of Rio Arriba County Magistrate Court for failing to pay fines on no insurance charges and expired registration. The subject was arrested and booked into Santa Fe ADC. 

Case 2025000024/ Agg DUI, Driving while license revoked, Roadway laned for traffic, open container/ 1-2-25

Arrested: Alfonso Ornelas-Jimenez 59 YOM

Deputies conducted a traffic stop for failing to maintain traffic lanes. The driver had an open container of alcohol, admitted to drinking alcohol prior to driving, and showed signs of impairment. The driver was uncooperative during SFST's and was arrested for DUI. The driver submitted to a breath test resulting in .16/.16 and he was booked into Santa Fe ADC without incident.

Deceased: 75YOM, Santa Fe, NM

Deputies were dispatched to the location in reference to an assistance with an ambulance. Upon arrival, it was learned the deceased had an extensive medical history. Foul play is not suspected. OMI arrived and conducted their investigation. 

Case 2025000013/ Driving while revoked, headlamps on motor vehicles/1-2-2025

Arrested: Awad Awad 27 YOM

Deputies conducted a traffic stop due to a front headlight not working on the vehicle. The subject/ driver had a confirmed revoked driver's license due to a prior DWI. The subject was arrested and booked into Santa Fe ADC without incident. 

2025000006 / Unattended Death / 01/01/2024

Location: 400 BLK County Road 84

Decedent: 77 YOM

Deputies were dispatched to a call for service in reference to a cardiac arrest.  Life-saving measures were taken but were ultimately unsuccessful.  The victim suffered from medical issues.  OMI performed a separate investigation.  Nothing suspicious identified.
