Arrested: Barbara Arellano, 51yoa female, Chamisal NM

Charges: Agg. Fleeing, Agg. DWI, Reckless Driving, Battery Upon a Peace Officer (x2)

Suspect Vehicle: 2004 Silver Toyota Rav-4

Suspect was called in to RECC as a reckless driver on I-25. The suspect was reported to be throwing items out the vehicle window and failing to maintain lane of travel. The suspect vehicle was located exiting I-25 onto State Road 599. A traffic stop was attempted and the driver failed to yield. During the pursuit the driver reached speeds near 100mph and was causing other vehicles to go off the road or out of their lane of travel. While traveling through the intersection of State Road 599 and Airport Road the suspect vehicle collided with a Ford F-150 pickup. After the crash the suspect vehicle came to rest on the north side of the intersection. The suspect, who was totally naked, fled her vehicle and ran across the intersection onto Airport Road where she was taken into custody. It was learned that the driver was Barbara Arellano. Arellano was suspected of operating the vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor and or drug.  Arellano was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital for a blood draw which she refused.  After arrival at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center, Arellano battered two correctional officer’s while being taken out of her handcuffs. Arellano was booked without further incident. Medical transport was refused on scene by the driver of the other vehicle.

Item taken- 2005 Yamaha R-6 Motorcycle Red in color

Above listed vehicle was taken from the above location at approximately 2:00 p.m. Vehicle was valued at $3,500. Case is under investigation.


0216003344-Burglary, Larceny, Criminal Damage to Property- 3-4-16

Location- Richards Avenue/Avenida Del Sur Santa Fe, NM

Items taken- electronics and a wallet

Between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. unknown subjects forced entry into a 2015 Subaru Forester and took the above items.  Case is under investigation.

Above listed person was found to have an active warrant for failing to comply with conditions of release from the Santa Fe County Electronic Monitoring Program.

Location:  20 Block of Juan Medina Road, Chimayo, NM,

Stolen: air compressor, chain saw, misc. hand tools

Deputy responded to the above location in reference to a burglary report.  Victim reported sometime between 2-18-2016 and 3-3-2016, unknown suspect(s) gained forced entry into his shed through the front door and stole the above items mentions. This case remains under investigation.


0216003332, Death Investigation, 3-4-2016

Location: 14A Rio Vista Run, Santa Cruz. NM

Deputy responded to an ambulance assist call to the above location and discovered 66 year old male unresponsive and not breathing. Male individual suffered from an extensive medical history. OMI summoned to the scene and no signs of foul play found.

Location: Sycamore Loop  Cottonwood MHP

Deputy responded to an ambulance assist call and discovered 53 year old male unresponsive.  Life saving measures were unsuccessful.  Male suffered from Cirrhosis of the liver.  OMI investigating and no signs of foul play discovered.

Location: Buffalo Thunder Trail, Santa Fe, NM (Pojoaque Area)

Arrested: David Cortez 42 yoa male, Taos NM

Charges: Aggravated DWI, Resisting Evading or Obstructing on Officer, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Failure to immediate notice of accident, Reckless Driving, and Disorderly Conduct

Deputies recieved a call of a hit and run of a silver subaru outback at the above location.  Through further investigation it was found the above driver had led the Pojoaque Tribal Police on a slow speed pursuit through the parking lot at the above location after hitting a parked vehicle.  The above driver attempted to flee on foot from the Tribal Officer after stopping the vehicle.  Above driver showed signs of impairment and was yelling verbal insults at security members disturbing the peace.  Driver refused to perform SFTS's and was placed under arrest.  Driver refused to submit to a chemical test after being read the NM Implied Consent Advisory.  A driver's criminal history revealed the above driver had two prior DWI arrests.  The vehicle was seized under the Santa Fe County Ordinance 2006-5 amended 2013-5.  Driver was booked on the above charges without further incident.

Locaton: E. Lower Firehouse Road, (La  Puebla)

Stolen: White 1996 Toyota Tacoma NM Plate MGT579

Deputies responded to the above location in regards to a stolen motor vehicle.  The owner reported the above truck stolen from her driveway between yesterday and today.  The owner had no suspect information and case is under investigation.


0216003250, Felony DWI, Revoked License, Receiving/Transfering stolen motor vehicle, 3/3/16

Location: US 84/285 and County Road 88  La Puebla

Suspect: Steven Baros  Age: 33  Espanola

Baros was arrested for 4th offense felony DWI after he was observed driving on Us 84/285 in the La Puebla area losing control of his vehicle and sliding off the roadway.  Baros was found to be impaired and passed out during the investigation.  He was transported to St. Vincent Hospital where he was arrested and a blood draw was conducted.  B.A.C. results are pending.  The vehicle he was driving was reported stolen out of Espanola.  Baros was booked accordingly.
