On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, deputies responded to the above area for a report of a reckless driver. Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle matching the description. The vehicle was traveling well below the posted speed limit and was unable to maintain its lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the above driver. The driver displayed signs of impairment and subsequently placed under arrest after SFSTs were administered. The driver was advised of the NM Implied Consent Advisory and she agreed to chemical testing. She was transported to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office and there, she provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit. She was later booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility without incident.

On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, deputies responded to the above area for a report of a hit and run crash. The other victim in the case was able to locate the above suspect, who's vehicle had become disabled near the above area. Contact was made with the driver and she displayed signs of impairment. SFSTs were administered and she was subsequently placed under arrest. The NM Implied Consent Advisory was read and she agreed to chemical testing. The driver was transported to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office and she provided two breath samples, which were more than twice the legal limit. She was later booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility without incident.

Victim: 44 YOM
On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, deputies responded to the above area in reference to a male who was not conscious and not breathing. Family and first responders administered life-saving measures, but the male could not be revived. OMI was summoned to the scene. Based off of available evidence, it appears the death was of natural causes and foul play is not suspected. This case remains under investigation.

Subject was stopped for a traffic offense and found to be operating a vehicle with a revoked driver's license due to a DWI. He was booked into SFADC without incident.

Arrested: Ryan Martinez 35 yoa male
Subject was stopped for a traffic infraction. During the stop he was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of the Espanola Municipal Court. He was taken to SFADC where he was booked with no further incident.
Case #2026000, DWI, Leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving

Arrested: Melisco Gallegos 33 YOF
On 02/16/2026 Santa Fe County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a Motor vehicle accident with injuries. The caller described the male and stated that they had observed him leaving the scene on foot. Deputies went to the address of the registered owner of the vehicle and located Mr. Gallegos who mached with the description provided by the witness. Mr. Gallegos exhibited signs of impairment, and was arrested for DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving. He was booked accordingly without firther incident.

During the course of a traffic stop contact was made with the driver, who had an outstanding bench warrant for his arrest. The driver was taken into custody and booked at SFADC.
Case #2026000965/ Resisting Evading/ Criminal Trespassing/ Lamps Required on Bicycles

Location- Cerrillos Rd/ Camino Carlos Rey
Arrested- Felipe Trujillo (45 year old male/ Santa Fe)
Deputies observed Felipe riding a bicycle through the closed dealership. When deputies attempted to contact him, he fled on the bicycle but was quickly taken into custody. He was arrested and later booked at the SF ADC.
Case #2026000963/ Aggravated DWI, Speeding, Failure to Maintain Lane/ 2/16/26

Location- 2000 block of Quapaw St
Arrested- Kai Chappelle (25 year old male/ Santa Fe)
A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving 77 MPH in a 35 MPH zone and failing to maintain its lane. Upon contact with the driver, he displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for DWI. He was transported to the SFSO where he provided breath samples which were all at or above a .16 BRAC. He was later booked at the SF ADC.

Suspect: Christine Romero (35 YO)
Deputies were dispatched to the residence for a 911 open line in which a male and a female were screaming on the phone and saying to send police. Deputies arrived on scene and during the investigation, discovered the female had assaulted the male and broken some of his belongings. Female was transported to the hospital for intoxication, and was issued a summons for the above charges.
