On 6/29/09 deputy conducted a traffic stop due to suspect vehicle speeding.  Deputy made contact with suspect in which he was identified and was found to have a bench warrant out of Sandoval County for failure to appear.  Suspect was cited, arrested, transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.

Arrested: Gerald Quintana 23yoa

On the above date, officers reponded to the above location regarding a vehicle crash.  Upon arrival, officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the defedant and open containers in the vehicle.  Defendant was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital and treated for injuries, and a blood sample was collected.  He was later transported to the adult detention center and booked accordingly.

Arrested: Mark Kiffin 48yoa

On the above date, officers reponded to the above location regarding a vehicle crash.  Upon arrival, suspect was found laying on the side of the roadway passed out.  Upon making contact with him, office detected a strong odor of alcohol.  suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment.  Upon officer advising him of his Implied Consent, he refused to submit a blood sample.  Due to suspect's injuries, he was admitted into the hospital and was subpeonaed to court.


0209005723 Battery on a Household Member 06-28-09

Location: 2400 block of Riverside Dr. SFNM

On teh above date, officer responded to the Sant Fe City Police Department regarding a female that had been battered.  Upon arrival, victim advised that earlier that night, her ex-boyfriend began to argue with her, which led to him punching her and throwing her to the ground.  Victim advised thata she tried to get away when the suspect forced her inot the vehicle.  She was later able to get away from him.

Arrested: Paul Vargas 19yoa and Pauline Vargus 52yoa

On the above date, officer witnessed the defendant traveling 85mph on a posted55mph zone.  Upon seeing the officer, defendant sped up to 100mph trying to evade officer.  Defendant's mother later showed up at he tow yard and obstructed and interferred with officer's investigation and was also arrested.

Location: 3900 block of Camino Juliana 32yoa

On the above date, officers responded to the above location regarding an aggravated battery.  Upon speaking with the victim, he advised that a male subjuect identified as Juan entered a home where he was visiting with friends and began to argue with the occupants.  Victim advised that he told him to leave, at which time the suspect hit him over the head with a glass bottle causing a cut to his head.  Officers attempted to locate the suspect to no avail.  Victim was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment.

Location:  5999 Airport Road, Santa Fe, NM (Country Club Apts.)

On 6/28/09 victim reported that sometime early this morning between 0000 hours and 0200 hours 3 male individuals were at the above location with friends.  Victim reported as he was outside in the parking area waiting for a ride, suspect struck him with a vehicle.  Victim went to the ER and contacted law enforcement.  Victim had lacerations and abrasions to the right side of his head and had scrapes and abrasions to his right shoulder blade and both elbows.  Victim was being treated for a possible torn rotator cuff to his right shoulder. An attempt to locate suspect was unsuccessful.

Suspect:  Chris Baca, age 49, Santa Fe, NM

Charged:  Aggravated DWI

On 6/28/09 a concerned citizen reported a possible impaired driver.  Upon contact with driver at fuel pump, I noticed he displayed signs of impairment.  Suspect was administered SFST's which he showed signs of impairment.  He was placed under arrest for DWI.  Suspect was advised of NM Implied Consent and agreed to a breath test in which BrAC results were .18, .19.  Suspect was transported to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center and booked accordingly.

Location:  West Cochiti, Santa Fe, NM (Silverado subdivision)

On 6/28/09 suspect arrived at victim's residence and asked for victim's sister.  Suspect became upset when victim refused to give information and proceeded to throw rocks at the victim as she closed the door to the residence.  Victim was able to leave residence and run to her uncle's house along with her 4 year old sister.

On 6/26/09 a call was received for a welfare check on a small child in which the small child was in the residence with a sex offender.  The suspect was in violation of his probation and an arrest order was issued.  Suspect was then placed under arrest, transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
