Charges: none
Deputy was sent to residence to assist with a civil matter. After talking with reporting party, Deputy made contact with suspect at his house. While talking with suspect, Deputy noticed that the individual was incoherant and not well. At this point, the suspect grabbed a meat skewer and stabbed himself in both eyes. Deputy tryed to get the suspect to comply, but the suspect ran into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Deputy deployed his Taser at suspect and gained compliance and control for the suspect's safety. Suspect was taken into protective custody and transported to St. Vincents for evalution and treatment.

Location: State Road 599, Mile Marker 8 / West Alameda area
Vehicle: 2003 Honda Element
Victim: Donn Carpenter, 59 yoa male, Santa Fe,NM
Vehicle #1 was traveling southbound on NM State Road 599 at mile marker 8 in theleft hand lane. Witnesses stated that Vehicle #1 completed a passing maneuver of a second vehicle traveling at the same location in the right hand lane. According to witnesses and physical evidence on-scene, the vehicle drifted to the right across the right hand lane and left the roadway onto the right shoulder. The vehicle then continued traveling onto the dirt shoulder and through a metal fence separating the highway from the Frontage Road. Driver #1 then countersteered to the left but overcorrected. Vehicle #1 rotated in a counter-clock-wise direction up a dirt embankment and tripped. The vehicle then rolled over 1 and 1/4 times, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt. The driver sustained massive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On the above date, the above named suspect was observed by officer travelling far below the posted speed limit. Upon making contact, driver had red watery eyes and smelled of consumed alcohol. Driver failed field tests and was placed under arrest. After completing the breath test driver had a BrAC of .14. He was transported and booked accordingly at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.

Charges: Aggravated DWI, resisting an officer, driver too be licensed, proof of insurance
On July 26th, 2008, dispatch received complaints of a reckless driver in the area, while deputies were looking for the vehicle, dispatch received calls about a motor vehicle crash in the area. Driver fleed on foot after crashing into a fence. Suspect listed above was located by State Police helicopter and he was taken into custody. Suspect was found to be intoxicated and booked into the Adult Detention Ceter on above listed charges.

On 7/27/08 driver was observed making a u-turn across two roadway medians. Suspect had a strong odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and person. Suspect admits to drinking a couple of drinks. Suspect provided a breath sample which was .13 and refused a second. Suspect wanted an additional test. Suspect was transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.

Location: Airport Road / Paseo Del Sol West area

Charges: DWI, resisting an officer and speeding
On this date above listed suspect was observed on Highway 599, south bound at 90mph in a posted 55mph speed zone. Traffic stop was attempted, but suspect failed to stop until Airport Road and Paseo Del Sol West. Suspect became beligerent with officer and started to fight with him. A back-up officer deployed his Taser to gain control of suspect. Suspect was arrested and taken to St. Vincent's for treatment and was later booked into the Adult Detention Center on the above listed charges.

Charges: Abuse of a Child
On this date the above listed suspect was observed in a verbal argument with her 16 yoa, daughter. Suspect was found to be very intoxicated. Another child was found in the house and she was 8 yoa. Both children were placed with other family members. During this suspect used a sharp object and cut her neck and wrists. Suspect was transported to St. Vincent's for treatment. Case is under investigation at this time.

Above suspect was observed driving on Richards Ave. in a reckless manner with a flat tire. Upon officers making contact with the suspect he had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and displayed signs of impairment. Subject was arrested and submitted to a breath test.

Driver was found to be impaired and refused to provide a breath sample. Driver also has a suspended driver's license. Suspect was arrested, transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.

On 7/26/08, driver turned off his headlights after seeing deputies on a traffic stop. Driver went to the above stated area where he was then arrested. Driver needed assistance to stand. Driver was not given SFST's. Suspect had a dollar bill on the front seat of his vehicle which contained a white powder substance which tested positive for cocaine. Suspect refused to submit to a breath test. Suspect had no driver's license, no registration and no insurance for the vehicle. Suspect was transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
