On 9-10-2022, Deputy Lujan responded to a motor vehicle crash resulting in a vehicle stationary on its roof. Upon arrival, Deputy Lujan contacted the driver, Paul Ortega, who admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages prior to crashing his vehicle. During the course of the investigation, Deputy Lujan observed signs of impairment as Ortega submitted to SFSTs. Ortega was placed under arrest. Ortega submitted to a breath test, which yielded a BrAC of 0.08. Ortega was booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center without incident. Cleared by arrest.

On 9-10-2022 at about 8:54 p.m., RECC received a call reference to an unlawful taking of a motor vehicle in the area of Valle Verde Drive. The victim was delivering merchandise bought by an uninvolved citizen. As the victim pulled up to the residence to make his delivery, two unknown suspects pulled up in the area in a white, Kia Optima. The passenger of this Optima jumped out and gained control of the unoccupied and running 2017 Kia Sorento. Both vehicles fled the area. This case is under investigation.

On Friday, September 9th, 2022, deputies responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle. Contact was made with the owner and they advised the vehicle had broken down on County Line Road around 1:00 pm. When they returned at 3:00 pm, the vehicle was gone. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. This case remains under investigation.

On Friday, September 9th, 2022, deputies responded to the above area in reference to an intoxicated subject call. Upon arrival, the above male was observed inside of a motor vehicle. The driver had driven to the location and he exhibited signs of impairment. An investigation ensued and the driver was subsequently placed under arrest for DWI. The driver provided a breath sample. The sample was above the legal limit. He was booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility without incident.

On 9-9-2022, Deputy Maria Hernandez took an identity theft call for service. The citizen fell victim to identity theft. The citizen stated she found out an unknown person had opened up a T-Mobile account in their name and information. This account had an outstanding balance due. This case is under investigation.
