How to Sign Up as a District Member
In 1997, the Santa Fe County Commission passed ordinance 1997-11. This ordinance served to combine the then existing 15 independent County Fire Districts, along with the County Fire Marshal’s Office into becoming what we know today as the Santa Fe County Fire Department. At the time of its inception over four hundred volunteer firefighters, EMT's and paramedics served throughout Santa Fe County.
There have been a lot of changes throughout the beginning of SFCFD, which is now a combination paid and volunteer department. The one constant that has not changed is that emergencies still happen, and we need volunteers in our ranks.
