On Saturday, January 10, 2026, deputies were patrolling the above area when they observed a vehicle with an equipment violation. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the above driver. During the contact, it was discovered he had an active bench warrant for his arrest. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility. There, he was booked accordingly and without incident.

Deceased: 83 YOF
On Saturday, January 10, 2026, deputies responded to the above area for a report of a person who was not conscious and not breathing. Upon arrival, it was discovered the person was beyond life-saving measures. OMI responded to the scene. At this time, there are no signs of foul play and the death appears to be of natural causes.
Case #2026000189/ Aggravated Fleeing, Reckless Driving, DUI/ 1/10/26

Arrested- Sergio Tovar (23 year old male/ Santa Fe)
Sgt. Webb was driving southbound on Cerrillos Rd at Vegas Verdes when a vehicle passed him driving the same direction and nearly crashed into him. The vehicle was speeding and driving all over the roadway. Sgt. Webb initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle fled. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle continued driving erratically, nearly striking multiple roadway signs. The suspect vehicle failed to navigate the diverging diamond and drove over the center median, causing the vehicle to go airborne and crash. The driver was taken into custody without incident and did not sustain any injuries. He admitted to ingesting multiple narcotics and a blood warrant was obtained by Deputy Przyojski. He was later booked into the SF ADC.
Case 2025000193/ Unattended Death/ 1/10/26
Assigned- Deputy D. Lovato
Entering- Corporal D. Moore
Location- Abs Rd (Chupadero)
Deceased- 82 year old male
Deputies were dispatched to a residence for a cardiac arrest. Upon arrival deputies spoke with the caller, who advised she believed her husband passed away in his sleep. Medical personnel were unable to revive the male and OMI was called to the scene. Nothing suspicious was observed and it’s believed he passed away from natural causes.

Location- St. Michaels/ 5th St
Arrested- Mariah Carter (26 year old female/ Santa Fe)
Mariah was contacted during a traffic stop and found to have two outstanding warrants. She was arrested on the warrants and later booked at the SF ADC.

Location- Cerrillos Rd/ Aggie Rd
Arrested- Monica Venzor Gutierrez (39 year old female/ Santa Fe)
Monica was stopped by deputies for failing to maintain her traffic lane while driving. During her contact with deputies, signs of impairment were observed and she was arrested for DWI. She was transported to the SFSO where she provided a breath sample that was at or above a .08 BRAC. She was later booked into the SF ADC.

Arrested- Luis Lozoya-Mata (32 year old male/ Santa Fe0
Deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Luis. He did not initially pull over, and his vehicle tires were spiked by a deputy. He then pulled over and was taken into custody. He was found to have an outstanding warrant and a revoked driver's license. He was later booked at the SF ADC.

Wayne was contacted during a traffic stop and found to be driving on a revoked license. He was arrested and later booked at the SF ADC.

Arrested- Arturo Morales-Gurrero (35 year old male/ Santa Fe) 3 warrants
Elizabeth and Arturo were contacted during a traffic stop and both found to have outstanding warrants. Elizabeth was arrested on 1 warrant, and Arturo was arrested on 3 warrants. They were later booked at the SF ADC.
