Deputies responded to location after receiving reports of a motor vehicle crash. EMS also responded and located a single occupant unconcious and not breathing. While trying to extract the decedent from the vehicle, they succumbed to their injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
2025004082 / Driving while license revoked, Suspended registration / 07-13-2025

Arrested: Benito Vega-Vargas, 45 YOM
Deputy conducted a traffic stop on vehicle for having suspended registration. After identifying the driver it was learned his driving privileges were revoked with the 122g arrest clause due to a prior DWI arrest. He was placed under arrest, transported and booked into Santa Fe County Jail.

Location: 3200-BLK Cerrillos Rd, Santa Fe, NM
Arrested: James Garcia, 19 YOM
Deputies responded to the area regarding a possible DUI. The vehicle was located at a drive-through window, driving on two rims. A traffic stop was initiated in the parking lot. Signs of impairment were observed, and SFSTs were conducted, and the subject was arrested. The subject had a BRAC of 0.18 g/210L and 0.18 g/210L. He was booked into SFADC.
Case 2025004075/False Imprisonment, Battery on HHM/7-12-25

Location: Tierra Hermosa Ct, Santa Fe, NM
Arrested: Jaime Loya-Robles 25YOM
Deputies were dispatched to the location regarding a domestic disturbance. Deputies arrived on the scene and made contact with the subject and victim. Through investigation, it was learned that the subject was arguing, and when the victim attempted to leave the bedroom to separate herself, the subject prevented her from leaving. The subject was arrested and booked into the Santa Fe ADC.
Case #2025004070 Unattended Death

Location: Pica Flora Path, Santa Fe
Deceased: 79 YOA female, Santa Fe
Deputies responded to the location in reference to a cardiac arrest call. Deputies arrived on scene and located the decedent, who was beyond life saving measures. The Office of the Medical Investigator was contacted to respond to the scene. No signs of foul play were observed.
2025004050 / Fraud, Larceny / 07-11-2025

13 San Marcos Loop (Turquoise Trail Elementary)
Staff reported they responded to an email from a vendor stating their banking information had change. Invoices were also submitted. These invoices were forward to accounting who later approved payment. It was later learned the invoices and email was fraudulent. Case is under investigation.

Arrested- Juan Gaytan-Villa (19 year old male/ Santa Fe)
Location- W. Gutierrez (Pojoaque)
Pojoaque PD requested assistance from SFSO deputies while on a traffic stop with a possible drunk driver, who was non-Native. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the driver who showed signs of impairment. He was placed under arrest for DUI and later provided a breath sample. He was then booked at the SF ADC.

Location- Agua Fria/ Henry Lynch
A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for running the stop sign at Agua Fria and Henry Lynch. Upon checking the driver’s DL, he was found to be driving on a revoked driver’s license due to a previous DUI arrest. He was placed under arrest and later booked at the SF ADC.

Arrested- Efren Villar Guerra (27 year old male/ La Villita NM)
Location- Siler/ Agua Fria
A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. When deputies attempted to handcuff him he resisted arrest. Deputies on scene called for backup, and when more deputies arrived, the driver was taken into custody. A tow truck was called and during the inventory of the vehicle two firearms were located in the center console. Open containers were also located in the driver’s door. He was later booked at the SF ADC.

Arrested: Gabrielle Romero, 35 YOA Female, Santa Cruz
Deputies responded to the location in reference to a shoplifting. Deputies arrived on scene and were advised the above suspect failed to pay for any of the items she left the store with. The suspect was arrested and booked into he Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility.
