On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, deputies responded to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility for a report of a battery. Upon arrival, detention officers advised they were at the Presbyterian Hospital with an inmate. During the visit, the inmate battered and assault a detention officer. No injuries were sustained. The inmate was rebooked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility without incident.

Location: St. Michaels Drive/El Llano, Santa Fe, NM
Arrested: Leonel Mercado-Cordova, 43 YOM
On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, deputies were patrolling the above area when they observed a vehicle without a registration plate. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the above driver. It was noted the driver was operating a vehicle on a revoked driver's license, and he was displaying signs of impairment. The driver consented to SFSTs and impairment was noted. The driver was read the NM Implied Consent Advisory and he consented to provide a chemical sample. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office. There, he provided breath samples that showed he was over the legal limit. He was booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility without incident.

Driver was reported as a reckless driver. Upon investigation, subject was placed under arrest for DUI, Driving on Roadways laned for Traffic, Driving on Right Side of Roadway & Driver to be Licensed. Subject was booked accordingly.

On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, deputies responded to the above location for a report of an inmate with an active bench warrant. Upon arrival, the warrant was confirmed to be valid. She was rebooked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility without incident.

Leticia was contacted during a traffic stop and found to have an active arrest warrant. She was arrested and later booked into the SF ADC.
Case #2026002065 Breaking and Entering, Criminal Damage to Property

Location: East Sombrillo Road, Santa Fe County
Deputies were dispatched to the location in reference to a breaking and entering. Deputies were advised unknown suspect(s) entered the residence and several sheds on the property between April 4, 2026, and April 13, 2026. It is unknown if any items were taken from within the residence or sheds. This case remains under investigation.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing it being driven on a flat tire. During the investigation, deputies determined the driver had previously been involved in a motor vehicle crash and failed to report the incident as required.The driver was placed under arrest and subsequently booked into the Santa Fe Adult Detention Center (SFADC).

Arrested- Justin Chavez (38 year old male/ Santa Fe)
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the above male for failing to have a rear reflector on his bicycle. The above male failed to provide his idenifying information by providing his brother in-law's information instead. The male was later idenified and found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was booked into ADC.
